Nell’s Woodland is a unique attraction in Ottawa. Inspired and supported by former Ottawan James Downey, the preserve is home to 58 acres of oaky woodlands. The Nell’s Foundation seeks to connect people with nature in the form of a variety of programs associated with ecological stewardship, wellness, and the arts.
The preserve is open to the public from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays and Mondays, through registration on the official website, https://www.nellswoodland.com.
Nell’s Woodland is also home to the Ecology Center, a building that houses educational programs, and other activities such as yoga and meeting spaces. Through a partnership with Illinois Valley Community College, classes and other programs will be held on Tuesdays-Fridays, when the preserve is closed to the public.
Everyone from all walks of life is encouraged to visit Nell’s Woodland and the Ecology Center. There are even further plans for various other collaborative events and programs with the community, which will be available on the Nell’s Woodland calendar.
